- operation of terminal facilities (e.g. harbours, piers)
- operation of waterway locks, etc.
- navigation, pilotage, tug and berthing activities
- bunkering and reception of port waste
- lighterage, salvage activities
- lighthouse activities
- marine cargo surveying activities
- waterway information services
- winter storage of ships and boats
This type also includes:
- ensuring safety at waterway infrastructure maintenance work
- liquefaction and regasification of natural gas for the purpose of water transport done off the mine site
This type excludes:
Services such as warehousing, storage, and other support activities, when provided solely to assist transportation activities within the same unit, are considered ancillary. These services should be classified under transport, with the unit assigned to the relevant code in Section H.
