This type includes:

  • pickup, sorting, transport and delivery (domestic (national) or international) of letter post and (mail-type) parcels and packages by businesses operating outside the scope of a universal service obligation. One or more modes of transport may be involved and the activity may be carried out with either self-owned (private) transport or via public transport.

This type also includes:

  • home delivery services, including food

This type excludes:

  • transport of freight, see (according to mode of transport) 492000, 494100, 502000, 504000, 512100, 512200
  • delivery of furniture, can include unpacking or installation, see 494100
  • home delivery of prepared meals, if performed by the same unit, which prepares the meals, see division 56

Is the unit coordinating freight or directly delivering packages? If the unit is coordinating freight, such as organizing logistics and transportation of goods, classify it under 522500 or 522600. If the unit is directly delivering packages, such as courier or postal delivery services, classify it under 532000.
